The largest open-air jazz music event in the Baltics—the XIII international festival Saulkrasti Jazz 2010 will take place at the recreation centre «Minhauzena Unda» in Saulkrasti on July 19—24, 2010.
The concert programme will start on Monday, July 19 at 20:00 with musically and visually spectacular show from Musical High School of Ventspils and TheBriefing. On the following days you can enjoy performances of such bands as Twin Town, Raitis Ašmanis` JelgavaBigBand, Xylem Trio, Patina, Kestutis Vaiginis Quartet (Lithuania, UK, Finland), MirageOctet and AssemblySingers, DP5TETConceptofFunk and GinGas (Lithuania). The evening concerts are ending by jam sessions.
A very special event in the festival programme is planed for Thursday—A Tribute to Gunārs Rozenbergs by MirageJazzOrchestra and Guests. Music and arrangements of G.Rozenbergs will be performed by MirageJazzOrchestra and teachers of SaulkrastiJazz2010 workshops —Jacobien Vlasman (Germany), Tore Johansen (Norway), Joonas Haavisto (Finland), Temur Kvitelashvili (Georgia), Venko Poromanski (Bulgaria), Pepe Berns (Germany).
The festival will close with two concerts on Saturday. At 12:00 there will be the Students` Concert w here workshop students will perform together with their teachers, this concert is free of charge. But at 19:00 Mirage Octet and Assembly Singers will take the stage and after their performacne, the festival headliners TheJames TaylorQuartet will perform.
The leader of The James Taylor Quartet is Hammond organ genius, acid-jazz keyboard king—James Taylor. Together with his band during the 24 years of their existance have recorded nearly 30 albums and performed more than 1000 concerts around the world. The powerful sound of The James Taylor Quartet live performances, the musical taste and positive humour are explosive—the jazz, acid-jazz, funk and soul compositions penetrated by energy and emotions in combination with the divine sound of Hammond organ can allure any audience.
After the Saturday concert there will be the Jam Session Night at club Katrīnbāde in Saulkrasti.
