The 5th International Hot – air balloon festival „Valmieras kauss 2010” and Latvian Hot – air balloon championship will take place in Valmiera from July 21-25.
Director of the festival Uldis Dūmiņš informs that this year there will be more than 25 air balloon teams participating from Slovakia, Lithuania, Poland and Latvia. The staff members who will provide qualitative organization of the festival are from Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Latvia. This festival will also be a preparing step for the next year because we are planning the first Hot-air balloon world championship for women in Valmiera as well.
Participants are arriving in Valmiera on July 21 and the opening of the festival starts with the morning flight on July 22. On July 22, 23, and 24 you will have an opportunity to see morning and evening flights. The morning flights are planned from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and the evening flights from 6.30 p.m.to 8.30 p.m. On July 23 and 24 there will be an opportunity to see the airship „Omnitel” from Lithuania. On Friday, July 23, from 11 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. everyone is invited to Divaliņa Meadow to see the shining of the air balloons at night. The festival „Valmieras kauss 2010” will close by morning flight on July 25.
Uldis Dūmiņš informs that hot-air balloon flights will go on only under favourable weather conditions. An exact time and place of the flights will be set up by competition director right before the scheduled flight.
